Megan Delong

Ward 10

Megan Delong is a lifelong Akronite and crafter. Although Megan holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from The University of Akron, she has always had a special place for art - primarily painting, sculpting, and drawing. Currently, Megan resides in Middlebury with her partner Sam and cat Scully. After college, Megan began community based work and couldn't get enough. Megan was the Middlebury and University Park Neighborhood Network Manager  and through that work, she was able to start some of her favorite projects like park revitalizations and public art installations. In 2023, Neighborhood Network was able to partner with Art Bomb Brigade, the University of Akron Myers School of Art, Sam's Jewelry Emporium, CLE Custom Shirts, and University Park neighbors to complete a mural on the side of the CLE Custom Shirts building on East Exchange St. That project fills Megan with tremendous pride.

Megan is now the Assistant Director for Community Engaged Learning at the Experiential Learning Center at the University of Akron - and she gets to see University Park mural pretty often. She works with students, faculty, and community partners to showcase the interdisciplinary work we're doing in Akron and beyond.

Megan is also a part of other community efforts such as the Everyday Akron team, the Hower House Museum Guild, the Friends of the Goodyear Branch Library Board, the Cummings Center for the History of Psychology as a Contributor for the "Places and Spaces We Call Home" Exhibit and has an interest in local government and housing initiatives. She is the recipient of the Kohl Family YMCA Volunteer of the Year Award in 2021 and the University of Akron Experiential Learning Center Excellence in Campus- Community Collaboration Award in 2023. When not working, Megan can be found bird watching, eating at a Mexican restaurant with friends, strolling in Jewett Park, sipping a lemonade from Compass Coffee, or enjoying a movie night at home.
